What could you say to a friend who has stopped taking their HIV treatment?

Discussion Starter

If a friend has stopped taking their treatment, try to ask why. Remind them that their viral load will go up which means HIV can damage their immune system, and that they are more likely to pass HIV on.

If they regularly miss doses, there is a risk that the HIV in their body will become resistant to the medication and the drugs will no longer work. Try to have an honest discussion with them to find out why they have stopped and see if they will start again.
