Simon Moore - Director of Communications and Digital Health Strategy

What do you do?

I work on the overarching strategy for Be in the KNOW, input ideas, and help review content – all to help ensure the quality and relevance of what we publish. I’m particularly interested in thinking how we can use behaviour change theories and learning to make Be in the KNOW even more useful for our users.

What’s your experience?

I’ve been working in communications for social change for over 20 years, including 18 years in HIV, health and development – for NGOs and as a consultant. I love learning and have completed an MSc in Behaviour Change and an MA International Policy and Diplomacy, as well as a certificate in counselling.

What do you wish you’d known as a teenager?

It’s OK to be you – if people who don’t know you judge you, then they aren’t worth knowing. The world is full of allies waiting to support you.

What do you do?

I write news, blogs and pages for BITK - everything from the latest science on HIV to how to talk to your partner about porn.

What’s your experience?

I have been writing about sexual health for more than a decade. I firmly believe that knowledge is power - knowing about our bodies and our rights is essential for a happy life.

What do you wish you had known as a teenager?

That's it's okay to say what you do and don't want when it comes to sex and relationships. Respecting yourself is like having a superpower!
